Roadmap to 1000 WPM: From Novice to Speed Demon in 30 Days

The Journey to 1000 WPM

Reading at 1000 Words Per Minute (WPM) places you in the top 1% of readers globally. It allows you to finish a standard book in under 60 minutes.

Is it possible for everyone? Yes.

Is it easy? No. It requires training.

Week 1: Calibration (300-450 WPM)

  • **Goal:** Get comfortable with the RSVP interface.
  • **Drill:** 15 minutes daily.
  • **Focus:** Try to relax your eyes. Blink naturally. Don't panic if you miss a word.
  • Week 2: The Push (450-700 WPM)

  • **Goal:** Push past your comfort zone.
  • **Drill:** Overclocking technique. Read at 800 WPM for 2 minutes (comprehension will drop, that's okay), then drop back to 600 WPM. It will feel slow.
  • **Focus:** Breaking the subvocalization barrier.
  • Week 3: Stabilization (700-900 WPM)

  • **Goal:** Regain comprehension at high speeds.
  • **Drill:** Read complex texts (philosophy, science).
  • **Focus:** Chunking. Try to see groups of words rather than single words.
  • Week 4: Mastery (1000+ WPM)

  • **Goal:** Sustained high-speed reading.
  • **Drill:** Complete a full novella in one sitting.
  • **Focus:** Flow state.

    Thanks for reading.
